Mass spectrometry analysis is an important technique for investigating complex protein machineries and therefore plays a vital role in our collaborative research center. To discuss new advancements and to foster the exchange of innovative ideas within our collaborative research community, our central project Z01 hosted a dedicated Mini Symposium titled “Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Dynamic Protein Machineries” on September 23, 2025.
SFB 1381 PI Pitter Huesgen (projects Z01 and B13) introduced the SFB 1381 before three invited speakers presented their most recent scientific findings: Florian Stengel from the University of Konstanz, Ilka Wittig from Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, and Fabian Frommelt from CeMM – the Research Center for Molecular Medicine in Vienna. Their insightful presentations highlighted cutting-edge methodologies and novel applications of mass spectrometry in the study of protein complexes, sparking lively and stimulating discussions.
The event concluded with a poster session, where members of the SFB 1381 presented ongoing projects employing or intending to integrate mass spectrometric techniques, further underlining the central role of this analytical approach in our consortium’s research agenda. The symposium not only facilitated scientific exchange but also helped to strengthen collaborative ties and inspire future research directions within the SFB.
Thanks to the invited speakers and to all participants of the symposium whose contributions made the symposium an engaging and inspiring event!
