Congratulations to Hans-Georg Koch (Project B06), Sonja Albers (Project A01) and Matthias Boll (Project A03): their article “The missing enzymatic link in syntrophic methane formation from fatty acids” was recognized as a finalist for the 2021 Cozzarelli Prize!

The Cozzarelli Prize is awarded every year to research teams whose articles, published in PNAS, have made outstanding contributions to their field. In 2021, PNAS published more than 3,500 articles in six scientific disciplines represented by the National Academy of Sciences (Physical and Mathematical Sciences; Biological Sciences; Engineering and Applied Sciences; Biomedical Sciences; Behavioral and Social Sciences; and Applied Biological, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences). Amongst these, the Editorial Board has chosen a winner and a finalist for every category. “The missing enzymatic link in syntrophic methane formation from fatty acids” was recognized as a finalist in the category “Biomedical Sciences” which stresses both the quality of the paper and the successful collaboration between our PIs.
