PhD Students

A major task of the SFB 1381 is to promote early career scientists and to foster the development of research independence. Therefore, the SFB 1381 provides comprehensive career support for doctoral as well as postdoctoral researchers.

PhD students of the SFB 1381 are members of the Speman Graduate School of Biology and Medicine (SGBM) or the International Max Planck Research School of Immunobiology, Epigenetics, and Metabolism (IMPRS-IEM).

PhD students of the SFB 1381 can take part in the Qualification Program of the Graduate Centre (GraCe) at Freiburg Research Services. The GracCe also offers counseling on all questions concerning doctoral studies, conflict counseling and other services.

The University of Freiburg has a central ombuds process to support doctoral candidates and their supervisors in case of conflicts arising in the supervision relationship or work in the dissertation.

Postdoctoral researchers of the SFB 1381 can take part in the Qualification Program for Postdocs and Advanced Postdoctoral Researchers at the University of Freiburg’s Department ‘Gender, Diversity and Academic Staff Development’ and in the Education and Qualification for Postdocs (EQUIP)-Program at the Faculty of Medicine.
